💟 Personal Life Update

I’m doing pretty well. Since the judge gave me some more time in my (still scary) rent situation I’ve found some renewed energy. I’m applying for jobs and in the meantime I’m already working as a Freelance Transcriber for Appen. Due to a combination of less poker, less late night streams and some important daytime appointments, my sleep has improved in the process and I feel much better because of it! 😇 Who knew a Poker break would be good? 🤣 

📢 Streamer Tip of the Week!

My second newsletter and we already introduce a new segment? Wow! 😎 Since I’ve got quite some experience as a streamer I’d like to give some free tips and tricks here. Tip #1: Keep Talking & Keep Asking Questions!

This sounds easier than it is and I still struggle a bit with this myself. But it’s very important, especially when trying to build your stream and community, to get to know your viewers and vice versa. Viewers are way likelier to come back if they feel the the streamer knows them a bit better. Think of it as a local bar, would you come back more often if the bartender knows you? I would! 🍺 

So, what to ask? It can be anything. Of course you can relate it to whatever you’re streaming but also ‘think outside of the box’ and ask people their favourite holiday location, food, guilty pleasure, if they are a cats or dogs person, what they would do with $1M dollars or whether they’d prefer to be blind or deaf! The possibilities are endless.

Tip #2: It’s okay to pause. After asking a difficult question with lots of possible answers, or in general after explaining something that requires some thinking: Don’t be afraid to pause talking. Again, something I’m not very good at, so I’m also advising myself here! 😆 When you pause you give your viewers time to think for a second and type in their answers! When you keep rambling on they might forget the question and/or don’t feel the need to engage.

🔤 Variety Gaming: Words on Stream!

I plan to keep mixing it up during my Community Gaming Nights. Last Friday we added Words on Stream for the first time and everybody loved it. A winner! The only downside is that I feel I’m way worse than I hoped haha 😁 I’d probably be much better with Dutch letters/words but who cares, we had fun!

🙋 Community Member of the Week!

In every newsletter I’ll highlight an Airhorn Army Member of the week! The Community Member of this Week is: 🙋 Alext0r! 😊 

Alex and me go way back! We actually met online while playing Unreal Tournament ‘99 (GOTY) more than 20 years ago on a Tweakers Server and after a while we created a clan called FtF (Faster than Fotons). Yes we spelled it wrong but FTP sounded awful. We even played some clan wars on Clanbase (RIP). We mostly played Instagib Capture The Flag. It also made me discover IRC. Did you know Twitch Chat is still based on this ancient chat protocol? Later on, Alex and me both went to study in Enschede, we stayed friends and I’ve even lived in his house for a while. He’s been a huge supporter and Moderator of my stream and was there from the first week that I streamed in March 2018! He’s also on top of the Sub Leaderboard all-time with currently 46 Months, almost 4 years. Thanks man! ❤️‍🔥

🎵 QR #13 Preview

Friday, Dec 8th, it’s time for the 13th edition of Questje’s ReQuestje’s. We’ll play the top 100 most requested songs of my Twitch channel starting at 18:00 CET. Since we had a bit less streams we might see some interesting surprises! For reference, this was the top 10 of the last edition, QR #12:

📅 Upcoming Streams

  • Friday, Dec 8th it’s time for QR #13 (see above).

  • Sunday, Dec 31th I’ll stream another edition of my New Years Eve party! No Delay, Drinks, Games, Music and possibly some micro stakes Poker as well. Let’s start 2024 with a blast! 🙂 

  • Furthermore, my plan is to stream at least every Friday for the rest of 2023, so be sure to tune in Friday 19:00 CET for GTOWizard Studying followed by Games. When I feel good and have the time/energy I’ll stream some other nights as well.

🎓 GTOWizard Study

Not playing as much poker? Taking a break? Detox period? A great moment to study a bit more to make sure you come back as strong as possible. Join us every Friday for some interactrive GTOWizard studying, or if you miss them live watch them back at your own pace at YouTube. Last Friday we dove into some short stack spots (12-25BB). We scored 85% overall, not too bad 😃
